Working environment

The local government sector is evolving and developing rapidly, largely due to the Government’s modernisation and improvement agendas. Many of the developments stem from the Local Government Act 1999 and accompanying White Papers, which put a broad reform agenda in motion.

The opportunities are immense. Not only are councils eager to find adaptable and resourceful graduates who will embrace and initiate change, but employees can find local government a highly satisfying and worthwhile environment to work too. There is a strong commitment to diversity and real emphasis on supporting the developmental, professional and personal needs of staff, whether through flexitime, home-working or part-time working.
