FAQs

If you have any other queries regarding your application, please email enquiry@ngdp.com, or telephone 0845 222 0250

Q: I understand this is a two–year development programme, what happens after the end of the two years?

A: We hope that your capability and development will ensure that the participating local authority will want you to stay on in an appropriate role at the end of the programme, but this may be subject to suitable vacancies being available at that time. We would expect you to begin to formulate your career aspirations during year two and to do this you may want to use the external mentor you will be allocated during the programme.

Q: I am disabled, can I still apply?

A: Of course. If you have any special needs or are having difficulty applying because of a disability, we will take your details and pass them onto one of the members of the graduate recruitment team. They will be able to discuss your needs in more detail but rest assured this will in no way affect your application.

Q: Do you pay relocation expenses?

A: It will depend on the benefits package offered by individual authorities – some do and some don´t.

Q: How can I find out about other graduate career opportunities?

A: Please see the useful links section.

Q: What happens if I am unsuccessful at the interview or assessment centre?

A: We will offer you feedback and we will also offer you the chance to register your details on our Local Government Talent Pool. This service will be marketed to all local authorities in England and Wales who will use search engines to access your details for any specific vacancies, which would suit a graduate applicant.

Q: Where will I be based?

A: With over 400 authorities, spread throughout England and Wales, we will expect you to be flexible about where you will work. We will however take into account any special circumstances, wherever possible.
